1- I made it to Boston!

beautiful weather!!

Vickie and I had a blast window shopping with a little bit of actual shopping built in (topdrawer – super cute fun stationery store with a number of products from Japan). Of COURSE I bought a notebook. I tried to convince Vickie to bring back her blog but I don’t think I was successful.

2- 100 days left – yep, we’re at the 100 days left in 2023 mark – 9.23.23! I’ve been listening to podcasts long enough (especially Happier) that this did not come as a surprise to me. I am trying to think about whether there is something I want to specifically try to tackle in the next 100 days and . . . not sure. Will reflect on that!

3- Um, I guess A has a phone now. Without much fanfare we let her move her SIM card from a flip phone to an old iPhone 6 we had lying around. She noted that she couldn’t text/FaceTime and while I could have pointed out that she can already do those things from her iPad, she did sort of have a point. She is not permitted to use the phone in school (at all, the school does not allow it), and she definitely can’t have her phone with her during activities like dance/gymnastics and we are not letting her have it at night, so . . . the harm seems fairly self-limited. We have very open lines of communication about what she has on there in terms of apps etc.

I’m sad I missed the webinar Kae linked to yesterday!!!!

4- Big run tomorrow: I have my aforementioned 18 miler tomorrow (so um, if you happen to be running along the Charles and see me . . . wish me luck!).

5- Jenny (my south FL neighbor!) wrote a great post on challenging your beliefs. I feel like I have made progress in this arena over the years; I used to be very rigid and now I feel more interested in what different perspectives have to say. There are limits and things that I will never tolerate (racism. climate change denial. etc), but I think every so often it’s good to recognize that you probably don’t know everything and it can be useful to at least listen to multiple angles.

Only 100 days? Wow, I need to reflect, re-evaluate, too..

I tried to leave a comment here a couple days ago and it disappeared! Very possibly something I did wrong and I’m just mentioning it in case you get two from me.
Thanks for the shout out! I’m glad you liked that. You put it well- we have to recognize that we don’t know everything. Our country is so polarized right now, we should all take a step back and listen to some different points of view. I know- easy to say, harder to do.
