THREE WEEKS left of school!
This also means 3 weeks until Quintile 3 (SUMMER) and also 3 weeks until our family trip to New Hampshire! I just spent the last hour refining our itinerary and I AM EXCITED. Unlike some of our recent more complicated summer journeys, we have a full week in one location (Sunday to Saturday) and I think it will be a great mix of outdoor time, family time, and relaxation — and there is plenty of room to add things. I came up with basically one main anchor for each day, so we can decide to add on, say, a movie or mini-golf excursion or whatever.
This is the first year for quite some time that we are traveling in June. Our “typical” family travel window for the summer is close to the start of school, in early August. But I think this new setup might be better? I will obviously report back, but I there is something nice about celebrating the end of the school year / marking the start of the next season with a trip.
(Side note: I may regret this because looking at the weather . . . summer may not have exactly made its way to the White Mountains of NH yet. I am so used to being hot that I didn’t really consider the possibility of being cold, but . . . it’s looking like it might be. That said, we have layers from our ski trips and Alaska and will go prepared!).
Otherwise, it hasn’t been a terribly productive weekend but I’m really happy to have this done, and maybe a non-productive weekend was in order anyway.
I did make muffins (a double batch of these, which I’ve made before); C even helped.

And I got a lot of outside time, at the pool yesterday and on a bike ride with G today! I almost want to incorporate some biking into our trip because she’s so good now.

Off to G’s piano recital and a lot of “pre-next-week prep” stuff . . . happy Sunday!

I hope the weather cooperates! It can change a lot from now to June! I mean last week it was 90 here and now it’s in the 40/50s… hopefully it is warmer so you aren’t too cold. I think going right after school is out will be better than right before school as things can feel hectic in the lead up to school! Paul also has 3 weeks left of school. They adjusted the length of the school day so they would get out a week earlier.
That is great that G can bike!! Paul has not been interested in learning to bike. He outgrew the bike he bought for him several years ago. So now we need to get him a new bike. He’s been so into scooting rather than biking.
My kids go to camp in NH and drop off is in late June. We have had every kind of weather at drop off over the years. Last year it was rainy and cold. I dropped off kids wearing hoodies, rain jackets and rain boots. In other years it has been super hot. Memoriably in 2021 it was in the mid 90s and the heat was causing the Covid testing machines to malfunction. It is WAY too soon to know what the weather will be like in 3 weeks, but I will think warm sunny thought for you.
haha, not so fond memories of summer 2022 when we went to camp visit day and Josh HAD COVID!!
The only thing I can promise about NH in June is that the water will still be cold in the lakes, so maybe only the kids will want to swim? I guess it depends on your constitution for such things! I don’t generally swim in natural water whatever the temperature, so it wouldn’t bother me a bit. 🙂 I think it will be fun even if it’s a little chilly.
I think so too! Worst case it will be more like wading than actual swimming but I think we’ll make the best of it (and hey, a refreshing change from being hot is always welcome!)
