First some news: UK readers, I just found out they are pushing the delivery date to the end of January. It sounds like it’s a shipping issue, maybe similar to my Hobonichi (but hopefully not THAT bad!)
Then, a HUGE thank you to my podcaster friends that had me on this week!! It means so much.
Here are 3 shows where you can hear me talk about the book (and I’m sure other things!), if you’re interested:
1- Before Breakfast! I was honored to be one of Laura’s Wednesday guests (and a repeat guest as well!). It’s always slightly humorous to be interviewed by a good friend. We had a fun convo.

2- Edit Your Life! Christine Koh is always a true delight to speak with (and I think I convinced her to try some annual goal setting this year! Hurray!).

3- Organize 365! This one is 55 minutes so I guess we had tons to say!

A HUGE THANK YOU to all 3 of these podcaster friends for having me on before my book release!!!
4- Inquiring minds may want to know how the bday gift went over:

Instant win . . . as were the donuts for breakfast . . .

5- It has been a crazy feeling week! Monday and Wednesday were so packed with recording and planning and pre-book stuff that my clinical days actually felt kind of like a break, ha. I also have a little bit of book release ennui – partly, I am anxious about whether people (esp people I know and respect!) will like it (though I recognize that ANY book will evoke a wide spectrum of reactions and opinions and mine will be no exception). Plus there is this weird little letdown where you realize that oh, nothing MAGICAL is going to happen just because it’s release day! It will be like any other day.
But hey. The Montana countdown is down to 9 days after today, so . . . I will just focus on that.

Try not to think about what others say about your book and please don’t read the reviews! It will not be good for your mental health! I am confident I will love the book and look forward to my copy arriving later next week!
I’m glad G loved her gifts and the donuts! I got donuts for Taco, too, but he was in an epically bad mood that morning so they were not the hit I had expected… Paul loved having a special breakfast so at least one kid was pleased…
9 days! Woo hoo!!
I’ve actually already seen some reviews on goodreads that were lovely! Knowing my personality the idea of not looking is a great one, buuuuuuut I won’t be able to stop myself (all it takes is one moment of weakness, after all). BUT, I have seen books i LOVE get negative reviews, so I will keep perspective that way! And, it’s absolutely fair that not every book is for every person 🙂
Sarah, I’m super excited to read your book! And I love your perspective recognizing that you’ve seen negative reviews on books you love… how a book hits a reader is quite subjective, isn’t it? You’ve poured your heart into making something of value to the community and that’s how you’re sending your book into the world. What a good feeling! What an accomplishment! I’ve never published a book (I imagine very few of us here ever have) so I can’t tell you not to take any potential bad reviews personally, but I hope that if/when you read a negative review you also remember that many people – myself included – have benefitted from your work. Then it’s just back to chop wood, carry water!
I just pre-ordered yesterday and am so excited to get it next week! I am planning to dive in during my lazy week between Christmas and New Year’s when I have lots of open time and will have some new year planning energy!
awww thank you Emily!!!
Well that looks like one happy 8 year old! Strong work, Sarah!
Amazon assures me that your book will arrive to my house next Tuesday. Believe it or not, I regularly implement some of your planning strategies to make my life better. For instance, I am off this week doing a staycation… and I was worried I would wallow around and do nothing and then regret that. So I created a calendar for my week with scheduled activities. I *have* done a ton of bed rotting, but it has been an active choice to do so, and I feel so much better rested and ready to return to work on Monday. I have also been trying to plan at least one fun thing each day, which has been really lovely. Thank you for everything you do! You really do make people’s lives better in measurable ways!
that really means a lot. thank you!!!
I am seeing/hearing you everywhere and I love it! I just opened Gretchen Rubin’s email and it has an interview with you!!! Very exciting. I feel like I have a parasocial relationship with you (and Laura) so this is very fun to see all these cross-overs.
One other thing where I thought of you just today (I hope not in creepy way) but on the Another Mother Runner podcast which you at least used to listen to the one co-host mentioned she keeps a Hobonichi and I immediately thought of you. It just felt like it was the convergence of all the things I enjoy – planners, running, listening to women-led podcasts like yours and AMR….
Anyway, i think i did cross to weird but i hope you’re enjoying all the time around your book and going into the holidays! 😀
ha!!!!! Not weird at all. I heard the AMR podcast is ending!?!? (Or is that not true? I hope it’s not! I haven’t listened recently other than their book episodes but I love both hosts so if it ends I hope they do more things!!!!!)
and yes I was so thrilled to get to be in Gretchen’s newsletter!!!! So awesome. I still don’t feel I did a bang-up job promoting myself but this week has been amazing because the people in my life who are in media have been so supportive and kind.
I’m so excited for your book, too! I have been reading your blog since…I don’t know, 2011? So it is really cool to see all of the amazing stuff you’re doing! Also, G is darling. My youngest is turning eight in June and it really is such a fun age.
Só much fun happening! I’ll listen to the episodes! Few more days until receiving the ebook!
I preordered last weekend and am so looking forward to reading your book. As a writer who would still like to write my own book, I’ve been inspired by watching your process. You make it seem like something that one can just DO. Stop waffling and write… 🙂 Congrats, and enjoy your family vacation!
Well it honestly took a decade to just write …. I guess sometimes you have to find the right level of readiness!
My copy arrived today! I am so excited to dive in!
I think anyone who loves your blog and podcast is going to love your book, so I wouldn’t worry. I’m excited to read it! I can see how you’d kind of have a lot of conflicting emotions now though. Glad you have the Montana trip to look forward to- you’ll need that break.
I pre- ordered and picked mine up last week! So excited to read it!
So precious!
And definitely won’t be like any other day—or shouldn’t be. Celebrate, even in a small way. Can’t wait to read it!
