The snow was fine!
Was it the best powdery snow I’ve ever been in? No. But it was still decent. And temperatures of 30-40 meant we were never really cold, which was great.
We all skied all day and thoroughly exhausted ourselves, the kids in ski school + Josh and me on our own and then at a half-day lesson.
(The instructor was good and I came away with some really useful advice about keeping my upper body facing the right direction, so glad we did that!).
Traditional lift pic:

My heart stuff seemed okay other than one weird moment (which ended up showing up as a brief stint of a 193 HR on my watch so . . . yeah). BUT whatever it was self-resolved pretty quickly and I am definitely working on getting in allll the hydration and electrolytes today.
The big kids have one more day of ski school (they moved to Level 6 – which I think is about where I am, and I’m very confident they will surpass me), and G has 2 more.
After skiing, we managed to fit in a quick visit to the hotel’s hot tub/pool which was soooo nice. We actually discovered a second pool/hot tub area at the resort we didn’t know existed (it is for the ‘condo’ side only, and we were on the other side for our last two trips). I kind of want to go every day.
Dinner was both cozy and adventurous — we went up to a yurt in a snowcat! It was really fun butttt some of us got really tired by the end (I think still being somewhat on Eastern Time didn’t help). It was definitely a splurge but felt special and will be memorable.

That passed out at dinner photo is EPIC!! I am glad you are all having a great time despite less-than-ideal skiing conditions. But hey, a not so great day in Big Sky is still an amazing day! And it is nice to not be frozen out there.
That is concerning about your heart rate but I am glad it was a one-time thing! I am sure it’s nerve wracking, though, and you are probably super attuned to an elevated heart rate. The dad of one of Taco’s besties had this crazy thing happen w/ his heart this fall – he ended up needing a pace maker and will need open heart surgery to fix an anatomical issue. He completed an iron man this summer with these unknown heart issues and now said he feels like a different person. They are writing an article about him in a journal because it’s kind of a miracle he’s alive… It’s kind of crazy that I know 2 healthy, fit people who had crazy things happen with their heart in 2025! And oddly, I know of another person who had the same anatomical issues as this guy (bicuspid valve issue), so I was able to connect them. I know too many young athletes w/ heart issues!!
Ok, let’s end on a high note. Enjoy the rest of your time together! Hit up the pool and hot tub nightly! Kae would approve! 🙂
What a cute picture of G passed out at dinner. Skiing sounds so fun. It’s nice to have an active hobby with the whole family.
