It’s Thursday?

May 26, 2022

I definitely thought it was Friday until the moment I went to title this post.

Yesterday was a somber one — I kept thinking of Tuesday’s massacre and cried on more than one occasion just thinking about it. I did make a donation and found this post with helpful suggestions of other ways to act, though there is a definitely feeling of futility when it’s clear that over the past decades of this, nothing seems to ever change.

And I will continue to reflect and to figure out ways to talk about it with my older kids, who are asking a lot of questions (especially A).

But I will also move on and try to enjoy and appreciate today.

A Few Tiny Bits of Joy

1- JetPens has the new Mildliner colors. I had been waiting for these (!). Also on the big A, but JetPens is far more fun. (I am not an affiliate, just a loyal customer)

Find them here

2- Just finished Dial A for Aunties and realizing I can dive straight into the sequel, Four Aunties and a Wedding. This has been a perfect “read on Kindle app next to kids in bed” book. Also, I’m just very happy to be back in a reading groove. Will finish at least 5 in May after a LONG slump earlier this year.

juicy!

3- Okay, this is more of a big bit of joy, but Josh and I are off on a short couples trip to celebrate our anniversary. According to my 5 year journal (and this blog post) this is now a yearly tradition. Different location this time though!

weather looks monotonous but acceptable

Happy Anniversary and enjoy your getaway! We are horrible at doing anything for anniversaries, it’s just a really inconvenient time in the teaching term. This year, we’ll spend it at an 18th birthday for my husband’s nephew and then I’ll catch a flight back to workcity while my husband/son catch the train home. I think we just need a fake date we can celebrate.

Happy anniversary and enjoy your time away! I hope it is really refreshing! We are hoping to take our first kid-free trip in December. Fingers crossed we can make that happen. We haven’t had a night away together w/out our kids since becoming parents!
