Shareable Pix from the Week

New segment? We’ll see . . .

A pooled her Hanukkah gift money/gift cards and bought a vanity. Apparently these are trending among the middle school crowd! I am very impressed with her product styling.

yes half of Sephora is on these shelves.
This is as wintry as it gets. A low of 34F on Friday!? We will have to break out the coats we normally only use while traveling!
(NOT complaining. I am really enjoying this taste of winter)
Inbox Zero. I was pretty overdue to see this! It felt great to be entirely caught though – responses sent + all tasks and data captured.
A and I celebrated with cookies after we found out she might only be out 3 weeks!
(Crumbl now sells minis in most of the full size flavors – maybe they have for a while but I didn’t know!)

I don’t have a good pic, but in other positive news, C was accepted to A’s school for next year (for middle school, which is 6th grade here). I do think they probably accept most kids, but he did have to submit a writing sample, interview, and take the SSAT, which wasn’t a ton of fun. We got the happy news on Friday and he was so excited! Nice to not have that hanging over us; with A the transition was a bit last minute so we didn’t have things set until April (LATE).

WEEKEND

Not a ton going on, since A & I were supposed to be in Vegas. Josh took G & C camping last night (he was sooooo excited — this was strategic since neither A nor I are that into roughing it, and we were supposed to be gone), and tonight A will have a friend sleep over! I’m thinking we may go out for ramen / boba tea for the kids.

I had a decent long(ish) run (10 mi), am currently with G at gymnastics, and have my Invisalign consult today, too. I will fit in some writing this afternoon (had some ideas for my intro and conclusions swirling around my head during my run this morning; let’s hope I can remember those with the word doc open!). Of note: I am so close to being done with the main chapters draft but OMGGGG I am intimidated by the intro & conclusion!! They just feel so much more open-ended and undefined, yet I know the intro needs to be attention-grabbing and fun to read to draw people in. Wish me luck!

ALSO ON THE DOCKET:

  • addressing New Year’s Cards that just arrived in the mail (YEP we will be sending out the latest cards ever — I’m fine with it, though)
  • starting some (mildly) annoying CME stuff because my FL medical license renewal is due at the end of January.
  • groceries + planning the week ahead though I did a lot of preplanning already (on Thurs) so this should be relatively quick!

I hope everyone has a peaceful weekend; still thinking about CA as it seems like they are not at all out of the woods yet. (Donation ideas list from the LA Times here, if you are looking to donate and need to figure out where to send.)

Her vanity looks great!! That’s a great had of money for her!

34 IS cold for you guys. I felt like you felt bad on the BOBW ep about winter, like you almost had to apologize for it being prime season for you. But you EARNED some cooler temps (although 34 seems a bit aggressive!!). So own your love of FL winters!!

We have a day group date today to celebrate a friend’s bday. We are going to an upscale mini golf place and then to our fave restaurant that the bday gift just happened to pick. Our res is at 5:30 and they asked that we leave by 7:30 which is perfect for an early bird like me! 🙂 we are test driving a teen babysitter on our block. Another family with similar aged kids raved about her and she had taken babysitting classes. Hopefully it goes well although I’m sure it will. Otherwise I am trying to do some meal prep for the week ahead to make meals easier for Phil to make as I will be totally unable to help after my surgery on Monday.

I think about how you’ve drawn people in to listen to your podcast or subscribe to your blog, so I know you will translate this to book form. I cannot wait to get a copy!

A tip for writing that I’ve found helpful (and you might too especially with podcast and that you’ve dictated for work) – consider dictating the intro and conclusion. You probably know what you want to “say”, but the writing it can be tough. If you dictate, you get a great first draft and then can work from that!

Please tell A she did an amazing job and I am truly jealous of her vanity! What a fabulous trend; a self-care vanity versus a work desk 😂.

well, she has a (home)work desk too 🙂

I love this new segment of sneak peak of your life in a random order. Her vanity desk looks great! Sofia is already thinking what she wants in her new room in Brasilia. I love that kids can do that themselves already.

Annabel built a lot of this herself too – she was so motivated + I was impressed!

i’ve been in personal email, work email, & epic inbox zero several times this week! great feeling! this never happened in 2024.

i love the beginning of the year because of new beginnings & fresh starts; however, all of my certificates, licenses, specialty orgs’ memberships [aap & two subcommittees, napnap, & sdbp] are all up for renewal. all so expensive total & tedious – but must be done!

& thank you for sharing about the wildfires. i have an older sis who lives in l.a.; she is safe for now – i don’t know if she will have to evacuate.

oh man – thinking of your sister.

yes we have to do our board of med renewal every 2 years. not tons of fun! and 2026 is a big ABP (american board of peds) renewal year for me that’s on a 10 yr cycle – probably need to get on that too at some point!
