Travel Weekend

Off on an adventure!

Plans –> Reality!

Many months ago, Kae and I started chatting with Elisabeth about a potential visit to her beautiful area — she lives in Nova Scotia where fall is resplendent, and you all know how I feel about FL fall. I have actually set an unofficial goal to experience fall leaves at least once every year, which means . . . well, unless I move, I will have to leave the state.

Obviously, this trip isn’t just about leaves – we also just wanted to get to hang out in person instead of just texting all the time! (AND I CAN’T WAIT FOR SOOO MUCH GIRL TALK AND HANG OUT TIME!) And so — we picked a weekend and booked it! We found the cutest place to stay and secured rooms in January. There happens to be a local race happening this weekend, and at the time I thought, “Hey, maybe I’ll run it!”.

Ha. Not every plan comes to fruition. But at least I am still going!!! This is actually the first time I’ve traveled alone since March’s cardiac events (!), and I feel good about it. My issues are still not entirely ‘fixed’ (and will probably never be) but I feel safe, especially with a ‘portable emergency room’ embedded in my side — the whole point of the defibrillator is to not have to worry about being super close to medical care. (No, it has not gone off as of yet — hopefully that will be the case long term!).

I ended up finding a fantastic points deal for my flight (22K AA points!!) and . . . well, here we go! I did have to take one day off of work. Josh will be solo parenting this weekend, and I’ll be back Monday night.

I am no stranger to having internet friends turn IRL friends. The only funny part is explaining to others not in blogland . . .

Kae and I have met before in person, so I am confident she is a real human. Elisabeth may actually be a highly sophisticated AI-created bot. I guess I am about to find out! (Obviously not but would be an interesting dystopian novel plot, right?)

The only thing I am worried about now is that if my flight to PHL is delayed, I will end up with a shorter trip and a surprise visit to my parents and sister, because I have a short layover and there’s no other feasible flight to Nova Scotia! I’m very much hoping this does not happen but hey, at least I won’t be stranded somewhere unfamiliar!!

I loved reading your “10 Things I’m Into” lists!!

(Or 14, or 20, as the case may be). Honestly, I got warm and fuzzy feelings reading the comments on that post. So, thank you! The world is a little bit (lot bit) crazy and there are many things to be sad about, but there are still good things going on and life is passing by whether we want to acknowledge those positive things or not . . .

enjoying one of the 14 Things as we speak . . .

You are going to have an epic trip! I’m sending good vibes to the air traffic gods for an on time flight.

Here’s to the quest to find out if our blogging friends are real or AI bots. Hey, you never know so it’s best to visit them and get confirmation.

Hope you have a wonderful trip and get to enjoy some real fall weather! It’s forecast to get into the 60s here this weekend. Break out the winter coats, lol! When I worked for a fully remote company a few years ago, we had a joke that, if you met someone in person, you were proving that you had legs. So when you come back, you can confirm to everyone that Elizabeth has legs and vice versa 😉

Oooh, have fun! I think we can rest assured Elisabeth is not an AI creation, since Birchie has met her and we’ve met Birchie. Safe travels, and have a great time. I hope the weather is PERFECTION!

I LOVE FALL LEAVES! Enjoy your trip — Nova Scotia sounds lovely. Crossing my fingers that all air traffic controllers and TSA agents show up to work for you, and that the weather cooperates!

Enjoy every minute, and here’s hoping for smooth and undelayed travel!
From a fellow Florida fall lover 🙂

Oh Nova Scotia is so lovely! My husband is from there and we live in Toronto visiting most summers. I hope you enjoy and take in the hospitality! East coasters are always friendly. 🙂 my SIL took me to a nice stationary store off Spring Garden road in Halifax this year and I loved it.

Can’t wait to hear how it was!

So exciting! I can verify Elisabeth is real, but you should check just in case. Hehe. Have the most wonderful time.

You have now officially met me and can confirm I am not a robot.
Or am I just a really, really convincing robot and I’ve successfully fooled you? Haha.
