A lot has transpired since I last posted, including:
- G’s school Halloween event! I went while on call and thankfully received zero chat messages while there! A reminder to myself that sometimes these things do work out. It was only an hour long which was . . . plenty. G brought home lots of candy and hung out with her BFF.

- Quick trip to the Keys! I had a colleague cover my call Sat/Sun (I’m on this weekend as a trade — and I greatly prefer splitting it up, anyway). Josh had his annual local vascular surgery conference and this tends to be a very family friendly event so we all go. We did skip the sunset cruise (was REALLY windy and I did not want to be miserable on a churning little boat . . .) but had a fun time at the pool, a fancy dinner party they always have, and the traditional Fancy Hotel Mom + Kids Brunch (while Josh goes to sessions in the AM). Honestly it was BY FAR the most fun I’ve ever had at this event, because the kids are really getting older and more and more fun to travel with.

All my other pix are on A’s phone so you will just have to imagine. The conference (and where we stayed) was at Cheeca Lodge in Islamorada which was really really nice — would definitely stay there again.
Everyone is also doing okay with the reduced screen burden (though certain people found a loophole in the hotel game room!)
- My first dazzle dry mani. I know. Very important. It did dry quickly BUT there is already a small chip 5 days in so . . . I’m not entirely convinced. Though if that’s the only chip by the end of this week, maybe I’d call it a win. We will see.

- Finishing my audiobook recording!! I had a “backup” session scheduled Wednesday night and am thrilled I will not have to use it. Yay. I have to say, I enjoyed reading my own book! I hope everyone else likes it too!!! (I am not entirely sure the audiobook will be out the same release date as the book itself — my guess is it will be a bit later — but will keep you posted!).
- Winning a “last plank standing” contest in Pilates (along with 2 others, they stopped us all after ~2.5 minutes). Haha, you can stop me from running but you cannot stop me from . . . trying hard at fitness endeavors. (Within reason. My HR didn’t do anything nuts so I just kept planking. It did burn though!)
- Have just been feeling a lot of gratitude and peace. Despite the very crazy things happening out in the world (sending all of the positive vibes to Jamaica, I have many friends who live here with family there and it’s just terrifying). ALSO sending love and thoughts to those impacted by the ongoing government shutdown.

I also have Dazzle Dry and sometimes it chips and sometimes it’s fine. Weirdly, I’ve had it done at a salon twice and it chipped 1-2 days in both times, where when I’ve done it myself at home it lasts longer. I am thinking about getting the Manucurist set you mentioned!
(Also I feel very seen with the “trying very hard at fitness endeavors” comment—I am pivoting to weight lifting from running and feeling similarly 🤣)
Wow a 2:30 plank!! I wonder how long you could have planked? That is awesome! I’m glad you are finding safe ways to challenge yourself. Your core is in great shape!!
I’m glad the conference getaway was enjoyable. We are still years away from a hotel stay being enjoyable!! But we will get there some day!
Ha, I can just picture your inner competitive nature come out when the plank challenge was announced. Of course you won (I mean- let’s just say if the instructor hadn’t called time, you would have outlasted the other two). And, congrats on finishing the audio book recording!!! I’ll probably never hear it, since I’ve already pre-ordered the print version. I’ll imagine your voice in my head while I’m reading it.
I know- it’s so hard to say things like “I’m happy right now” when so many things are in such a wreck (I mean, Jamaica- omg it hit them as a Cat 5???) But… I’m glad you’re feeling all the gratitude and peace right now.
I KNOW. It’s devastating. So much destruction. It sounds like at least most people were safe (from what I heard on NPR this morning), but so much sadness and loss too. And of course any loss of life is a tragedy. Defintely donating today.
Congrats on completing the audiobook recording! And your getaway sounds really nice. A 2.5 minute plank! Way to go! Bummer that she stopped you all before you could see how far you could get though. Love that nail polish color!
