5 Pix on a Friday

January 9, 2026

1- I’m seeing patients in a new location today!!!

After 12 years of working at only our ‘main’ location, I am going to be at one of our other outpatient offices on Fridays. So far I already love it: it’s calm, spacious, and I get to hang out with two of our newer doctors that I don’t usually get to see enough of!! It’s the same distance from our house, though I cannot do school drop-off (wrong direction). Because of this, our nanny is going to drive one morning a week (Friday is not a late night anyway).

The only negative is that I will miss the Friday lunch bunch at the old location, but will try to do this on another day (plus I can still meet with them whenever I am over there on a call week — those Fridays I will be back in the old location).

this office is AT LEAST double the size of the other one! And one of the nurses just brought me a Cuban coffee (she’s making rounds with those tiny cups). I may need to request more days over here . . .

2- Peanut Butter of the Month:

I think I mentioned that I got Josh Peanut Butter of the Month Club (this one) for his birthday. As expected, it has been a hit. Bonus: he is sharing 🙂 This one is from Argentina and not only does it have awesome packaging but it is suuuuper smooth and delicious.

3- Date night goal: HAPPENING! When I did my monthly plan for January we picked a weeknight + a weekend date. The weeknight was yesterday AND it happened to be a Very Important Game for University of Miami (per Josh) so I agreed to spend our date at a sports bar watching.

I did have fun learning about their star wide receiver who transferred from one of the neighboring schools MIDYEAR to play at UM at age 18. Kind of wild!

I ate a lot of nachos.
Even though it’s January.
I did not mean to wear the color of the opposing team.
purposeful outfit choice

We also lucked out and found a place nearby that wasn’t too crowded, so that was a win.

4- Meet Baguetti, the newest member of our family (and a cherished post-Hanukkah gift). My kids are Jellycat obsessed. I do think they are cute and remind me of the Beanie Babies craze of the 1990s . . .

Who doesn’t need a stuffed baguette?

5- Okay, bonus pic: started this earlier this week. Fredrik Backman definitely has a STYLE. (Which I generally like). So far so good!

I’m not into sports so if I had been on the date it would be very like me to be wearing the opposing team’s colors. What I like about this date is (1) weeknight and (2) nachos!

We have also been trying to schedule more date night/fun activities this year. This past fall we have been to a college football game, a hockey game, and a basketball game (all men’s — we need to be better about this). For each one the spectacle was part of the fun. I even bought a sweatshirt in approved colors and logos for when we go. I feel like I prefer in person sports to tv for team sporting events, but I think I would have enjoyed the nachos, and sometimes it’s just nice to get out of the house! This weekend we’re going to the DIA and San Morello for dinner, which… how have I not been to this museum yet? It’s nice to have something to look forward to. 🙂

live sports really are fun! I’ve mostly been to Miami Heat games and I agree ‘the spectacle’ is a big part of it. (I also find basketball much more naturally mesmerizing to watch than football, but this was still a good date.)

    Baguetti is adorable!

I’m an Ole Miss alum, your shirt is fine. The school coordinates with fans on the color to wear (🤣 it’s the SEC) and last night it was powder blue….so navy isn’t as noticeable.

Did you watch the whole game? It was a crazy fourth quarter but Miami earned the win. Do you think you and/or Josh will go to the Championship game?

    • Reply Sarah Hart-Unger January 9, 2026 at 11:59 am

I am not going to the championship, but Josh may try to score a ticket with his sister and her husband (both alums and huge fans). It’s possible he would bring C (who WON the extended family fantasy football. I did not participate , lol).

I absolutely did not make it to the end. Ha!!!

Ooh you know this is totally my kind of date and I think I even spy fresh jalapeños (not the pickled ones many places try to use which I don’t like…) on the nachos!! I’m not sure I’ve ever paired nachos with wine though! Haha.

    • Reply Sarah Hart-Unger January 9, 2026 at 4:27 pm

yes they are raw! (I like raw OR pickled. haha). And I think it went great with the wine though I agree, not conventional choice!!!!

Mmmm nachos! That looks like such a fun date night. We never go to sporting events. But tickets are stupid expensive for most things. Phil looked at Twolves tickets for Paul for Christmas but they were so pricey! College tickets would probably be more reasonable, though.

Like you, Lisa (and SESB), I live in a city with a Big Ten university. I have found that college sports are super fun/low stakes/cheap to take kids to, and the quality of the play is really high (Ohio State is really good in almost all sports including the lesser known ones!). Football and men’s basketball are pricey so we mostly avoid those, but we’ve taken our kids cheaply to see women’s basketball and men’s wrestling, and for free to see gymnastics, track and field, and women’s hockey. Everything was a hit with the kids except track and field which we all though was boring 🙂

This is a really good suggestion! I should try to get our older son to a college basketball game. And I would personally love going to a college gymnastics meet! Thanks for the inspiration!!

Date night at the sports bar sounds like fun – especially with the nachos LOL We went to a comedy club last night (first date of 2026) and I am looking forward to more fun outings.

    Baguetty… haha… I’ve never seen a stuffed toy in bread form .

Did you guys watch the whole game??? I stayed up WAY too late watching, but it was worth it. Here’s a fun fact- one of the star players from our high school team is going to play for Miami next year!!! We’re so excited for him- he’s been at our school his whole four years (so not like some of the players who transferred in when the team got really good). Yet another reason for me to watch the Hurricanes next year.
Peanut butter of the month, you say??? Maybe I’ll get that for my husband- his birthday is at the end of the month.

and NO, I did not stay up until the end . . . I had a 6 am Pilates choice the next day so decided to call it. Josh did see the end tho!

Tried hard to resist the Jellycat trend and then my son’s girlfriend bought him the baseball one and I got my younger son the birthday cake for his recent birthday and now I cannot stop I fear.
