M – 3 mi run @ 9:44/mi (74F / 97% hum) + 20 min Peloton Strength – Adrian Williams upper body
T – rest!
W – 5 mi – 1 mi warmup @ 11:04, next 3 @ tempo (8:52, 9:24, 9:28 – this was a fail, was supposed to be 4 and faster), 1 mi cooldown @ 11:24 (76F / 90% hum)
R – 4 mi run @ 10:36/mi (76F / 91% hum) + 30 min Peloton Strength – Selena Samuela full body
F – 6 mi – reattempted Wednesday’s fail and did better! 1 mi warmup @ 11:31, 4 @ tempo (9:10, 8:59, 9:14, 9:11), 1 mi cooldown @ 12:22 (73F / 96% hum)
S – 4 mi @ 11:00/mi (74F / 92% hum) + 20 min Peloton Strength – Selena again, arms/shoulders
S – 10 mi with miles 8+9 @ tempo – most of run ~10:30/mi but mile 8 @ 8:45 and mile 9 @ 8:57, yay! (75F / 85% hum)
Total = 32 mi – definitely highest I have had in a long time (with 10 the longest LR in a while as well)
Takeaway: Our weather in October is basically disgusting. I can’t wait for Dec/Jan/Feb!
PS: I greatly enjoyed listening to this Ali on the Run podcast ep featuring Emily Oster – I am jealous impressed with how speedy she got. Admittedly it kind of made me want to get a coach although I think I’m making at least some progress with my virtual coach/training plan for now.
Annabel went to an 80s bday party last night + G had a blast at her playdate!!! Today C has a soccer ‘evaluation’ and the other two are less than thrilled to have to watch, but they will survive. OH! And I played with this:
The Essential Calendar – I am an affiliate, so I have a link and a code BESTLAIDPLANS that gives you 10% off! I got the teak magnetic hangers and and impressed with the simplicity AND utter usefulness of this baby. We are going to hang next to our weekly whiteboard – big seasonal picture next to day-by-day.

I’ve become an evangelist for the Essential Calendar – I LOVE (and my kids love) seeing the next 3 months at once (also right next to our weekly whiteboard, haha). Plus, I get to gussy it up w/ stickers & colors to make it fun.
Put in my order and am looking forward to using this. The spouse has a new job with much more travel so this is well timed.
I really love it! 3 months is such a great time horizon to think about. Maybe someday a Quintiles edition 🙂
Are 80s birthday parties a thing now? Is it like birthday parties when we were kids?
Haha no more like a 2020s party but lots of neon and 80s fashion!
Sarah, did you see the Erin Condren wall calendars are back? It’s not the exact ones you have but it’s one! I bought one immediately 🙂
Yes! So exciting!
Great job on your workouts! Especially those fast miles during your long run! It was another disappointing week of workouts for me… being in the office + being home with a sick toddler were rough. I went on lots of walks though so better than nothing I guess! I travel this week for work but am hoping to run in Central Park with a coworker. Fingers crossed that works out!
@Lisa We are having great running weather in the NY metro area right now. I hope you enjoy!
I ended up getting my toddler’s RSV so had to cancel my trip! I am so bummed. 🙁 But I will reschedule for next month and the weather should still be decent for running!
Every time I read one of your weekly workout recaps I want to run more but for me running is not helpful to weight loss at all, because I feel so hungry afterwards. Since I’m focusing on that right now I’m doing lots of barre which I also like but the endorphins are not the same!
Glad your weekend is going well!
Same, definitely does not help weight loss here either. I just want to run faster!!!
i also run faster! taking a break from running (just here and there) until I train again maybe for shorter races to get faster! I do like the coach though, it’s more personalized and more accountability.
